Dr. Knudsen’s research has been instrumental in uncovering the molecular mechanisms driving prostate cancer progression and resistance to therapy. She has authored over 200 scientific publications and has received more than 25 distinguished awards for her contributions to cancer research, including recognition from the Endocrine Society, the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and numerous academic institutions. Dr. Knudsen has delivered invited lectures at over 140 scientific conferences, and over 150 invited and/or named lectures at prestigious academic medical institutions and cancer centers.
Her work has not only advanced the scientific community's knowledge but has also translated into innovative clinical practices that improve patient care. Dr. Knudsen is a strong advocate for interdisciplinary collaboration, believing that the integration of diverse scientific perspectives is key to groundbreaking discoveries.
In recognition of her expertise, Dr. Knudsen continues to hold major thought leadership roles in the cancer community. Dr. Knudsen serves on advisory board for 12 NCI (National Cancer Institute) Cancer Centers, and in advisory roles across the biopharma community, including service on the Scientific Review Board for Genentech. Dr. Knudsen also served for 5 years on the National Cancer Institutes Board of Advisors, was the Editor-in-Chief for Molecular Cancer Research, a Senior Editor for Cancer Research, and continues to serve as an Associate Editor for Oncogene.
Dr. Knudsen was also recognized for commitment to mentoring. Dr. Knudsen successfully trained over 35 PhD, MD, PhD/MD students and fellows in her laboratory. She received the Excellence in Mentoring Award from Thomas Jefferson Medical College, and the Ron Ross Award from the Pacific Rim Breast and Prostate Cancer Foundation in appreciation of her strong commitment to training excellence and to her trainees. Dr. Knudsen is endlessly proud of her “lab family”!
