Closer Look at Progress of Cancer Vaccines

Karen Knudsen and Kristen Dahlgren joined NBC News’ Kate Snow to discuss the promise of therapeutic cancer vaccines and why this emerging field represents a new frontier.

Kristen opened up about how her own breast cancer diagnosis inspired her to found the Cancer Vaccine Coalition, work that has since joined forces with the Parker Institute. Karen explained how therapeutic cancer vaccines can teach the immune system to recognize cancer, with the potential to keep it from coming back or spreading.

For both, the progress in this field represents an opportunity to change what’s possible for people facing cancer and, as Kristen shared, a reason to have hope.
